Paul Garmon

Sr. Software & Systems Architect at Boris FX

Paul Garmon has a diverse and extensive work experience. Paul started their career as a programmer at Project LOCAL in 1974. Paul then worked as a Software Engineer at Wang Laboratories, where they were involved in designing and implementing the Alliance office indexer and working on the Premise CD-ROM text retrieval system.

After that, Garmon joined THINK Technologies, Inc. as a Software Engineer, where they co-authored function libraries for Think C 1.0 and contributed to the launch of ThinkC.

Paul later worked as a Senior Software Engineer at Remanco, where they developed a next-generation Point of Sale system. Following this, Garmon served as the Director of Macintosh Development at Flamingo Graphics, where they developed spline font text rendering algorithms and directed the Macintosh development of a video title generation product.

In 1991, Garmon joined Avid Technology as a Consulting Engineer, working on high-performance JPEG & MPEG compression and showcasing editing technologies at NAB industry events.

Paul then worked as a Streaming Media Scientist at TechOnLine, developing e-Learning solutions for Electronics Engineers using streaming media and creating automated reporting systems.

Currently, Garmon is serving as a Senior Software & Systems Architect at Boris FX, where they develop high-performance video algorithms and cross-platform video effects software. Boris FX is known for its special effects and compositing software for the video and post-production industry.

Overall, Garmon has accumulated a wealth of knowledge and experience in software engineering and development, particularly in the fields of video effects, streaming media, and e-Learning solutions.

Paul Garmon attended Wellesley High School from 1974 to 1977. Following this, they studied at Brandeis University from 1977 to 1981, where they earned a Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) cum laude with Honors in Computer Science.
