Director, Family Services at Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center (BCNC)

Grace Su is the current Director of Family Services at the Boston Chinatown Neighborhood Center (BCNC). Prior to their current position, they worked as a Clinical Social Work Intern at Aspire Health Alliance from September 2013 to April 2014 and as a Family Clinician at Regency Family Health from April 2014 to April 2015.

As a Clinical Social Work Intern, Grace provided individual outpatient therapy to 6-8 clients diagnosed with different forms of mental disorders on a weekly and biweekly basis. Grace also conducted monthly, brief individual therapy sessions with a group of 30 clients in the med clinic. In addition, Grace attended weekly dialectical behavioral therapy group treatments for clients diagnosed with Borderline Personality Disorder and participated in weekly clinical team meetings. Grace documented S.O.A.P notes accordingly for individual clients and assessed, developed, evaluated, and monitored treatment goals.

As a Family Clinician, Grace supported parents with knowledge and skills to help them improve their understanding of the specific needs of their child and the reasons behind their child’s behavior. Grace communicated with their supervisor, DCF staff, and other professionals involved to coordinate appropriate treatment services. Grace also assessed, developed, evaluated, and monitored treatment goals.

Grace Su has a Doctorate in Clinical Social Work from the University of Pennsylvania, a Master of Social Work in Health and Mental Health from Boston College, and a Bachelor's Degree in Human Development and English from Boston College. Grace also has a Certificate in Nonprofit Management and Leadership from the Institute for Nonprofit Practice. Grace is certified by the Massachusetts Department of Public Health as a Massachusetts Problem Gambling Specialist (MA PGS), by the National Council for Mental Wellbeing as an Adult Mental Health First Aid Instructor, by ASWB - Association of Social Work Boards as a Licensed Independent Clinical Social Worker, by Infant Massage USA as a Certified Educator of Infant Massage, by International Association of Infant Massage IAIM as a Certified Infant Massage Instructor, and by the Institute for Nonprofit Practice as a Certificate of Nonprofit Management and Leadership.

They are on a team with Joann Yung - Chief Development Officer, Lina Tang - HR Manager, and Kathy Cheng - Director, Acorn Center, Early Education & Care. Their manager is Ben Hires, CEO.
