Nina Yoshida Nelsen is an accomplished artistic director and opera singer with extensive experience in the field. Currently serving as the Artistic Director and Artistic Advisor at Boston Lyric Opera since February 2022, Nelsen has also maintained a successful freelance career as an opera singer since January 2002. Previous roles include singing at Houston Grand Opera from 2013 to October 2022, Opera Santa Barbara in September 2012, and New York City Opera in March 2010. Nelsen holds an Artist Diploma in Opera from The Academy of Vocal Arts (2006-2009), a Master's in Music specializing in Voice and Opera from Boston University (2001-2003), a Bachelor's in Music with a focus on Violin Performance from Boston University (1997-2001), and an additional Master of Fine Arts - MFA from Boston University.
