Kit Parker has a long and varied work history, beginning in 1992 when they were commissioned as an Officer in the United States Army. During their 20+ year career in the Army, they served in infantry, artillery, and civil affairs units and was the Operations Officer for two Gray Team missions to Afghanistan in 2011. In 2003, Kit began their work as a Professor of Bioengineering and Applied Physics at Harvard University, where they direct an interdisciplinary research group focused on pediatric disease and materials science. In 2017, Kit founded KK Parker & Associates, a consulting practice that teaches organizations adaptive learning techniques, the management of creative and innovative teams, and leadership development. Kit also co-founded Desora in 2017 and Tender Food in 2020. In 2020, Kit was appointed Founding Editor-in-Chief of Biophysics Reviews at the American Institute of Physics, and in 2021 they became an Advisor at Supermoon Capital.

Kit Parker began their educational journey in 1984 when they earned a Bachelor of Science in Bioengineering and Biomedical Engineering from Boston University. Kit then went on to pursue a Master of Science in Mechanical Engineering from Vanderbilt University, which they completed in 1993. Following this, they earned their Doctor of Philosophy in Biological and Applied Physics from Vanderbilt University in 1998. Afterward, they completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Biomedical Engineering at The Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine in 2002. Lastly, Kit completed a Postdoctoral Fellowship in Pathology at Harvard Medical School in 2001.
