Mark Churchill has an extensive career in music education and performance, currently serving as Music Director and Conductor for Symphony Pro Musica since 1983. Mark held the position of Dean of Preparatory and Continuing Education and is a Cello Faculty member at the New England Conservatory of Music since 1970. As the Founder of the Abreu Fellows Program under El Sistema USA® since 2008, Mark promotes the social action ideals of music education. Additional roles include Senior Advisor for the Boston Philharmonic Orchestra since 2012 and Associate Conductor for Boston Ballet from 1993 to 2012. Mark's educational background includes Bachelor of Music, Master of Music degrees in Cello and Chamber Music from the New England Conservatory of Music and a Doctor of Musical Arts degree in Cello and Conducting from Hartt School of Music, University of Hartford.
