Stan Sclaroff

Interim Dean, Arts & Sciences at Boston University

Stan Sclaroff is the Interim Dean of Arts and Sciences at Boston University. Stan has held this position since August 2018. Prior to that, they served as the Associate Dean of the Faculty for Mathematical and Computational Sciences in the College of Arts and Sciences from September 2015 to July 2018. Stan also served as the Chair of Computer Science from July 2007 to June 2013. Dr. Sclaroff has been a faculty member at Boston University since January 1995, when they joined as an Assistant Professor of Computer Science. Stan was promoted to Research Assistant in September 1988 and Senior Software Engineer in September 1984 at Schlumberger Technology, CAD/CAM (Applicon).

Dr. Sclaroff's research interests are in computer vision, image processing, and machine learning. Stan has published over 100 papers in these areas and has been funded by NSF, ONR, DARPA, NEH, and industry. Stan is a Fellow of the IEEE and the recipient of an NSF CAREER award, an ONR Young Investigator award, and BU's Distinguished Scholar award.

Stan Sclaroff received their Doctor of Philosophy from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and their BA from Tufts University in English and Computer Science.
