Daqian Cheng is a graduate student researcher at the Biorobotics Lab, Robotics Institute, Carnegie Mellon University, where they focus on advanced SLAM algorithms and hardware-software sensor co-design for confined spaces under the supervision of Prof. Howie Choset. Their projects include developing an ultra-compact 3D scanner currently utilized by Boeing for airplane manufacturing and a robotic system for in-pipe 3D mapping in natural gas pipes. Daqian's research encompasses SLAM, sensor fusion, and probabilistic filtering, drawing on extensive experience with various sensor technologies. They have previously held positions as a Graduate Research Student at CMU and a Research Engineer at TuSimple. Daqian earned a Master of Science in Robotics from Carnegie Mellon University and holds a Bachelor's degree in Electronic and Information Engineering from Beihang University.
