Brandon Gigous, M.S.

Robotics Software & Embedded Engineer at Boulder Imaging

Brandon Gigous, M.S. has a diverse work experience in the field of robotics and software engineering. Brandon began their career at NASA Glenn Research Center as an INSPIRE Intern, where they gained exposure to the field of robotics. Brandon then interned at NASA Langley Research Center as a DEVELOP National Program Intern, where they developed user interfaces and integrated Microsoft Kinect technology with virtual environments.

At NASA Ames Research Center, Brandon worked as an Intern in the Intelligent Robotics Group. Brandon contributed to the development of the Astrobee robot, enabling live video streaming for the International Space Station. Brandon also worked on the low-level control of motors and tested prototypes of the new freeflyer robot.

Brandon continued to excel in the field of robotics at Oregon State University, where they worked as a Graduate Research Assistant. Brandon co-created a multiagent framework for the design of complex systems and implemented reinforcement learning algorithms to optimize the performance of quadrotors.

After completing their master's program, Brandon joined Advanced Solutions Inc as an Embedded Systems Software Engineer. Brandon developed the application layer for the propulsion system of a Mars spacecraft, incorporating threading and message queues to ensure fast response times.

Moving into the private sector, Brandon joined Boulder Imaging as a Robotics Software & Embedded Engineer. Brandon played a key role in prototyping and porting firmware to microcontrollers, diagnosing and repairing circuit boards, and leading firmware updates for robotic bird detectors. Brandon also took initiative in championing Python and Dash as the tech stack for customer-facing dashboards and built automated systems for robotic diagnostics.

Brandon also took on a mentoring role at CodingNomads, where they enhanced student learning in Python and Flask. Brandon created interactive lessons, provided code reviews, and developed a comprehensive Flask Web Development course.

Overall, Brandon Gigous, M.S. has an impressive background in robotics and software engineering, with experience in developing firmware, building robotics applications, and mentoring students in programming.

Brandon Gigous, M.S. has a Master of Science (MS) in Robotics from Oregon State University, which they obtained from 2015 to 2017. Before pursuing their Master's degree, they attended the University of Illinois Urbana-Champaign from 2012 to 2015, where they studied Computer Engineering. Prior to that, from 2010 to 2012, they attended Kishwaukee Community College, but their field of study and degree obtained during that period are not specified.
