Derek Akerhielm

Derek Akerhielm's work experience includes roles in different companies and positions in the field of chemical and fermentation engineering. Derek started their career as a Brewing Intern at Anheuser-Busch in 2003. In 2004, they joined Novozymes as a Process Development Engineer, where they supported the research and development of fermentation processes for industrial enzymes. Derek also worked on process automation and control, as well as new product scale-up. In 2016, Derek moved to Grifols as a Senior Fermentation Associate, Technical Development, where they worked on upstream bioprocess development, including microbial fermentation processes for diagnostic antigens production. Derek also provided cGMP manufacturing support and investigated process improvement and optimization. Derek is currently working as a Chemical Engineer at Boulder Scientific Company since 2018.
