John Powell is an experienced professional with a robust background in lifesaving and emergency management, currently serving as the International Lifesaving Manager (Innovation) at RNLI since September 2001. John's extensive role involves leading international drowning prevention initiatives and developing innovative, human-centered solutions in collaboration with various stakeholders. Previously, John held the position of International Programmes Manager, where John created a comprehensive learning framework for lifesaving organizations. In addition to their work at RNLI, John is an Operational Manager at Dorset & Wiltshire Fire and Rescue Service, contributing to community risk reduction through technical rescue management. John also serves as a Senior Lecturer in Design and Engineering at Bournemouth University and is involved in establishing standards for lifesaving equipment at BSI. John holds a BSc in Engineering and Product Design from Bournemouth University.
