Scott W. Hood

Scott W. Hood has been the SVP for Communications & Public Affairs at Bowdoin College since 2012. Prior to that, they were a Consultant from 2010-2012, News Director at Maine Public Broadcasting Network from 1986-1989, News Director at WIGY-FM/WJTO-AM from 1984-1986, Property Manager at Heil, Heil, Smart & Golee from 1980-1982, and Corporate Relocation at Fifield Palmer & Company from 1979-1980.

Scott began their career as a Systems Engineer at EDS from January 1982 to December 1983. Scott then went on to become a radio news reporter and producer, co-host of "Maine Things Considered," and host of "Morning Edition" and "Midday" news broadcasts. Scott has won numerous radio news awards from the Maine Association of Broadcasters and the Associated Press.

In addition to their work at Bowdoin College, Scott is a regular contributor to NPR's "All Things Considered" and "Morning Edition," CNN Radio, and Monitor Radio.

Scott W. Hood graduated from Lake Forest College with a Bachelor of Arts in English. Scott then attended the University of Southern Maine, where they earned a Master's degree in Public Policy and Management. Scott also attended Greens Farms Academy and Kent School.
