Kiahni Hughes has a diverse work experience spanning different roles and responsibilities. Starting in 2013, they worked at Bowery Residents' Committee as a Transit Homeless Outreach Specialist, where they provided direct outreach, escort, and referral services for homeless individuals. Kiahni also maintained accurate statistical data and case records for clients. Kiahni then served as a Clinical Case Manager and later an Independent Living Specialist, providing case management services to chronically homeless clients within the NYCT Subway system. Kiahni'sresponsibilities included completing necessary paperwork, conducting assessments, and providing emergency first aid/CPR. In 2018, Kiahni transitioned to the role of an Outreach Shift Supervisor, overseeing subway-based outreach specialists and ensuring coordination of services and data collection. Kiahni eventually became a Borough Coordinator, where they worked with external stakeholders and evaluated program data to identify areas for improvement. In 2022, they became a Program Coordinator, supporting the Program Director of the Homeless Outreach Program in planning and coordination. In 2023, Kiahni took on the position of Program Director, responsible for the day-to-day operations and clinical services of a transitional housing program. Additionally, they had work experience at ON YOUR MARK, INC. as a Direct Support Professional and at the NYC Department of Education as a Substitute Paraprofessional.

Kiahni Hughes obtained a Bachelor's Degree in Psychology from CUNY College of Staten Island, completing their education from 2009 to 2015. In terms of certifications, they acquired several additional qualifications. In 2023, they obtained CRISIS PREVENTION INSTITUTE TRAINING INSTRUCTOR from Crisis Prevention Institute and DEI - Valuing Diversity, DEI - Workplace Harassment, and DEI - Unconscious Bias and You: Essentials certifications from Mineral. In 2022, they received the Narcan Dispenser Certification - Trainer from the NYC Department of Health and Mental Hygiene. Additionally, they obtained Preventing Discrimination and Harassment for Managers certification from Thomson Reuters in 2020, Mental Health & First Aid certification from the New York City Department of Health & Mental in 2019, and Adult First Aid/CPR/AED certification from the American Red Cross in 2021.
