Elyar Aliyev

Elyar Aliyev is a seasoned legal professional with extensive experience in the energy sector, currently serving as Managing Counsel and Vice President Legal for bp in Azerbaijan, Georgia, and Türkiye since February 2009. In this role, Elyar leads the legal team supporting critical projects such as the Azeri-Chirag-Gunashli oilfield and the Shah Deniz gas field, along with overseeing legal support for major pipeline projects including the Trans Anatolian Pipeline and Southern Gas Corridor. Prior positions include Senior Counsel for the gas value chain, and roles in legal and supervisory capacities with SOCAR-AQS, Azerfon, and Nobel Oil. Elyar holds a Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP Law School and a Master's degree in International Law and International Relations from Baku State University, further complemented by a background in project management and translation services in diverse sectors.
