Matthew East

Matthew East is a managing counsel at bp, specializing in commodities trading law within the energy sector. With a strong academic background, including a First Class BA in Jurisprudence from the University of Oxford and an LLM from the European University Institute, Matthew has built a reputation for a highly commercial approach and an ability to manage complex workloads. Prior to their current role, Matthew served in various legal positions at bp, including as Senior Counsel in Integrated Gas & Power, and was also a solicitor at Holman Fenwick Willan LLP. Matthew began their legal career as a pupil barrister at 20 Essex Street, demonstrating a proactive and collaborative style throughout their career.
