Karol Estrada

Karol Estrada, MSc, PhD, currently serves as the VP of Translational Genomics at Maze Therapeutics and has been an Adjunct Professor at Brandeis University since April 2018, where course content for the Statistical Genetics course has been redesigned and updated. Previously, Karol held significant positions at BioMarin Pharmaceutical Inc. as Head of Translational Genomics and Sr. Director of Statistical Genetics, leading teams focused on drug target discovery and large-scale genetic resources. Earlier experiences include serving as Associate Director at Biogen, where strategies for neurological disease targeting were transformed; Research Fellow at the Broad Institute; and Head of Department at the National Institute of Genomic Medicine. With a PhD in Genetic Epidemiology and multiple accolades, Karol has contributed to 40 published scientific papers, demonstrating a robust background in genetics and genomics.
