A.J. Dickerman began their work experience in 1998 as a Child and Youth Care Worker I at Brandon School & Residential Treatment Center. They worked in this role until 2001. From 1993 to 2002, they also served as Seasonal Staff (Pelican) at Star Island Corporation. A.J. then returned to Brandon School & Residential Treatment Center in 2002 and worked as a Child and Youth Care Worker II until 2008. From 2008 to 2014, they worked as a Documentation Specialist, and from 2014 to 2019, they worked as a Documentation and Data Manager. Currently, A.J. is the Assistant Director of Data and Documentation at Brandon School & Residential Treatment Center, starting in September 2019.
A.J. Dickerman obtained a Bachelor of Fine Arts degree from Savannah College of Art and Design, graduating between the years 1993 and 1998. Additionally, A.J. has earned several certifications, including being a First Aid/CPR/AED Instructor from the National Safety Council in November 2016. In March 2015, A.J. became a CARE Trainer from the Residential Child Care Project, and in July 2014, became a Therapeutic Crisis Intervention Instructor from the same institution. Lastly, in February 2010, A.J. obtained the certification of Nonviolent Crisis Intervention Instructor from the Crisis Prevention Institute.
