Stephen Schmidt

Stephen Schmidt is an experienced Advanced Materials Researcher at Braskem since May 2023 and the Co-Founder and CSO of BioBind Inc. since December 2019, focusing on the design and synthesis of metal chelators for chelation therapy and food safety. As a PhD candidate at Carnegie Mellon University from August 2018 to August 2023, Schmidt researched enhancing the safety of heavy metal chelation using natural-based chelators. Previous roles include serving as an Admission Counselor and Integrated Lab Researcher at Carroll College, where responsibilities encompassed recruitment and managing various research projects. Schmidt's undergraduate research at Virginia Tech included investigating hemoglobin adsorption, and earlier work experience featured a role as a Busser at Red Robin. Educational qualifications include a PhD in Chemistry from Carnegie Mellon University and a BA in Chemistry from Carroll College.
