Kurt White

Vice President Of Community Partnerships/communications/development at Brattleboro Retreat, Inc.

Kurt White has extensive work experience in the field of mental health and addiction treatment. Kurt started their career as a Social Work Supervisor at Brattleboro Retreat in November 2005 and later served as a Clinical Manager of Starting Now & Birches Programs. Kurt then held the position of Sr. Director of Ambulatory Services from March 2013 to April 2020, overseeing outpatient programs and community initiatives. Kurt also served as the Sr. Director of Patient Care Services from April 2020 to January 2022. Currently, they hold the role of Vice President of Outpatient Services at Brattleboro Retreat.

In addition to their work at Brattleboro Retreat, Kurt White has been an Adjunct Professor at Smith College School for Social Work since June 2009 and an Adjunct Faculty member at Antioch University New England since February 2011. Kurt also has experience as a Therapist at Mt. Tom Center for Mental Health and Recovery from 2004 to 2007.

Furthermore, Kurt has contributed to the field of addiction treatment as the President of Vermont Association of Addiction Treatment Providers (VAATP) from September 2013 to September 2017. The VAATP is a non-profit organization representing addiction treatment providers in Vermont. Kurt previously served as Treasurer for three years. As a member affiliate of the VAATP, Kurt represents the Brattleboro Retreat and is involved in national advocacy through the Board Member Affiliate of the State Associations of Addiction Services.

Kurt White pursued their education from 1995 to 1999 at the University of Chicago, where they completed their Bachelor of Arts (B.A.) degree. Kurt studied general studies in the Humanities during this time. Afterward, from 2001 to 2003, Kurt attended the Smith College School for Social Work and obtained a Master of Social Work (M.S.W.) degree with a specialization in Clinical Social Work.
