Jia Yang Li has worked in a variety of roles since 2017. In that year, they were an Assistant at the National Environment Agency and an Attachment at the Building and Construction Authority. In 2018 they were a Data Analyst at Schneider Electric, where they optimised in-house energy monitoring software and reaped energy savings of $1,545 per month. In 2020 they were a Research Analyst at ALLFED - Alliance to Feed the Earth in Disasters, where they researched global catastrophic risks and how they affect industry, and profiled 80 new leads on high net-worth individuals for fundraising. In 2021 they were a Senior Associate (Back-end Development) at Avanade, where they worked on data migration to split a monolith into microservices, wrote scripts to automate 7zip compression and extraction of large files, and modified a C# program to copy files efficiently. Jia Yang was also a Research Analyst at Quantedge Advancement Initiative, where they evaluated Southeast Asian countries (and also Mongolia) to determine which country is the most suitable for deploying a solar project, and investigated the suitability of clean cookstoves as a climate change and health solution in Southeast Asia. In 2022 they are an Attribution Data Lead at Breadcrumbs, where they help with all things data-related, such as scraping and adding new data to identify different blockchain addresses, and builds the community of the Discord server and fields questions.

Jia Yang Li has a Bachelor of Engineering in Materials Science and Engineering from Nanyang Technological University Singapore, which they obtained between 2017 and 2021. Jia Yang also attended the Overseas Entrepreneurship Programme (OEP) from 2019 to 2020. In addition, Li has obtained several certifications, including "Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals" from Microsoft in September 2021, "Fundamentals of GIS" from Coursera in December 2020, "Machine Learning" from Coursera in December 2020, and "Materials Data Sciences and Informatics" from Coursera in July 2020.
