Tomas Juergensen

Senior Battery Application Engineer at Breathe Battery Technologies

Tomas Juergensen has a strong background in battery engineering and research. Tomas began their career in 2018 at Imperial College London, where they conducted research on energy materials and proposed novel organic electrolytes for redox flow batteries. Their work contributed to improvements in battery performance and the development of more sustainable energy storage systems.

In 2019, Tomas continued their research at Imperial College London, focusing on designing and testing a novel ceramic membrane for use in solid-state lithium-ion batteries. This work resulted in a co-authorship of a conference paper and a journal article submission.

In 2020, Tomas joined Northvolt as a Battery Cell Abuse Test Lab Intern, where they commissioned and installed a safety testing facility. Tomas also developed and implemented test execution standards and procedures and played a crucial role in enhancing workplace safety by modeling Li-ion cell gas emissions during safety events.

At Northvolt, Tomas later transitioned to the role of Battery Cell Abuse Test Engineer, responsible for executing and processing Li-ion cell abusive safety tests. Tomas also designed, programmed, and built abusive safety test equipment.

In 2022, Tomas joined Arrival as a Battery Safety Engineer, where they led battery safety initiatives and served as the technical lead in the Arrival-LG Energy Solutions li-ion cell relationship.

Most recently, in 2023, Tomas joined Breathe Battery Technologies as a Battery Engineer, where they are currently employed.

Tomas Juergensen completed their education from 2016 to 2020 at Imperial College London, obtaining a Masters' Degree of Engineering (M.Eng.) in the field of Chemical Engineering.
