Brenau University
Michael Lochstampfor has been athletic director at Brenau University since 2009. He first arrived at the university in 2002 as fitness center director and head coach of the Golden Tigers soccer team. During his tenure as athletic director, Brenau athletics have grown from seven varsity sports to 16 total sports, including junior varsity basketball and softball programs and new lacrosse and competitive shooting teams. The number of student-athletes on campus more than doubled since 2009, from 80 to nearly 200, and Brenau teams have taken home 11 conference championships in that time, including five in track and field, three in swimming, two in softball and one in cross country. Before coming to the university, he was the director of the men and women’s soccer programs at Oglethorpe University, head soccer coach and physical education instructor at Reinhardt College, and men’s soccer assistant coach at Midwestern, where he received a master’s degree in exercise science. He holds a bachelor’s degree in physical education and French from Covenant College.
