Syed Ali BEng CEng MIMechE FInstLM has a comprehensive work experience in the engineering field. Syed is currently the Head of Engineering at Briar Chemicals Limited, where they oversee contract manufacturing and site services for the chemical industry. Prior to that, they served as the Engineering Manager at InterGen, managing a portfolio of gas-fired power stations. Syed also worked as the Lead Mechanical Engineer at RWE GBS UK, overseeing the largest and most efficient power station at Pembroke. Syed has experience as a Senior Mechanical Engineer at RWE npower, providing project management services to power plants and heavy industries. Syed's earlier work experience includes roles at Abbott Laboratories as the Manager of Engineering, Energy, and Infrastructure, and at GDF SUEZ Energy International as a Mechanical Engineer, specializing in turbines, boilers, and other power generation systems.

Syed Ali has pursued a diverse education history in the field of mechanical engineering and leadership. In 2008, they obtained a Bachelor of Engineering (BEng) degree in Mechanical Engineering from the Institution of Mechanical Engineers, which they completed in 2012. In 1999, Syed Ali undertook a year-long program at the Institute of Leadership and Management, earning an NVQ Level 5 in Engineering/Industrial Management.
