Anna McTigue

Director Of Special Education at Bridge Boston Charter School

Anna McTigue, Ph.D. has a diverse work experience in the field of education. Anna started their career as a Special Education Teacher at McKinley Schools from 1986 to 1992. Anna then worked as an Assistant Program Director at McKinley, Boston Public Schools from 1993 to 1995. After that, they joined the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee, Department of Exceptional Education as an Academic Staff and Practicum Supervisor from 1998 to 2002.

In 2002, Anna McTigue joined Education Development Center Inc. as a Project Director and Senior Research Associate, where they provided expertise to multiple technical assistance, educational research, and professional development projects. Anna also consulted with the Massachusetts Department of Elementary and Secondary Education, the Michigan Department of Education, and various school districts in the region.

From 2014 to the present, Anna McTigue has been serving as an Administrator/Coordinator of the Therapeutic Program at Paul A. Dever Elementary School, Boston Public Schools. In this role, they have passionately promoted programs that provide access for all students to become college and career ready. Anna has worked collaboratively with families and community partners to support students and has nurtured a culture of collaboration with staff, families, and community partners. Anna McTigue has also developed a Therapeutic Program for students with emotional impairments and implemented social-emotional learning curricula on a school-wide level. Anna has successfully designed and implemented clinical treatment and behavior plans, facilitated Response to Intervention (RtI) meetings, hired and evaluated staff, and ensured programmatic compliance using their knowledge of special education law and procedure.

Since 2017, Anna McTigue has been working as the Director of Special Education at Bridge Boston Charter School.

Anna McTigue, Ph.D. earned their Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) degree in Urban Education and Leadership/Exceptional Education from the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Anna completed this degree between 1999 and 2008. Additionally, Anna holds a Master's degree in Special Education and Teaching from Lesley University. The dates of completion for this degree are not provided. Anna also obtained a Bachelor's degree in Sociology from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, though the duration of their studies for this degree is unknown.
