Dean Whisnant has diverse work experience spanning several industries. In 1992, they started as a Staff Programmer at Computing Information Services, where they installed and modified base publisher distribution software. Dean then worked at California Princeton Fulfillment Services as a Data Processing Manager, where they managed the Data Processing Department and planned and implemented a small company LAN.
From 1995 to 1997, Dean worked as an Information Systems Manager at NTC/Contemporary Publishing Company, overseeing infrastructure support, application programming/support, and operations support. Dean also led the implementation of the company LAN and a merger with another publishing company.
In 1997, they became the Lead Systems Engineer at Inland Truck Parts Company, leading a re-engineering effort for the company's legacy sales and distribution system. Dean also managed the company's WAN and procured outside resources for projects.
From 1998 to 2003, Dean worked as a Principal Consultant at Keane, Inc, managing the implementation of an Offender Based Tracking System and overseeing client projects.
In 2003, they became the Information Services Manager at Woodhaven Health Services, responsible for managing legacy pharmacy operations and insurance adjudication software. Dean also handled MS-Windows 2000 Servers and MS-SQL 2000 servers.
Dean joined Basys, Inc in 2004 as a Product Coordinator, identifying opportunities for improvement in the Health Claims product and presenting business cases to gain sponsorship for projects.
In 2006, they joined APS - Palo Verde Nuclear Generating Station as a Software System Designer III.
Finally, Dean returned to Basys, Inc in 2007 as a Senior Software Engineer, leading programming staff for modifications of Health Claims and Contributions software. Dean also implemented a Process Improvement Methodology and trained customers on programming custom APIs. In 2013, they became the Principal Software Engineer, responsible for designing and implementing solutions and onboarding new staff.
Dean Whisnant obtained their Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Information Systems from the DeVry Institute of Technology. Dean attended the institute from 1989 to 1992.
