Bridging Barriers
Isioma Okwechime is currently the Lead International Welcome Team Assistant at the University of Leeds, where responsibilities include organizing welcome events for new students. Previous roles at the university include Student Caller, Open Day Ambassador, and Student Volunteer focusing on teaching English to international students. Isioma is actively participating in the Rare Articles initiative and has secured a Vacation Scheme offer with Clyde & Co, where participation in the Bright Futures Programme offered insights into law firm operations. Engagement with mentoring initiatives at Bridging Barriers and DLA Piper enhances knowledge of the legal profession. Additionally, participation in various programs such as Aspiring Solicitors and student research with Cerebra highlights a commitment to professional development and support for children with neurological disorders. Isioma is pursuing a Bachelor of Laws (LLB) at the University of Leeds after completing an International Foundation Year in Arts and Social Sciences. Prior education includes a High School Diploma from Loyola Jesuit College.

Bridging Barriers is social mobility charity supporting young people aged 16-25 to achieve career success through mentoring, virtual masterclasses and networking events. With mentoring at the forefront of what we do, we give young people access to professionals who empower them with the soft and hard skills needed to thrive. Our virtual masterclasses and networking events complement the mentoring, allowing young people to build employment networks to strengthen access to opportunities.
