Midlands Operations Manager at Briggs & Forrester Group Ltd

Mark Smith has a diverse work experience spanning over several decades. Mark started their career in 1988 as a Senior Site Supervisor at NG Bailey, where they progressed from an apprenticeship to an approved Electrician. During their time at NG Bailey, they supervised various M&E trades and handled responsibilities related to heat and ventilation, packaged plant, mechanical commissioning, fire alarm systems, security systems, lighting control, and HV & LV distribution.

In 2001, Mark joined Balfour Kilpatrick as a Project Engineer, where they managed projects from tender handover to completion. Mark'sresponsibilities included procurement, planning, health & safety, programming, design management, cost control, and client liaison.

In 2004, Mark joined Electec Limited as a Contracts Manager, overseeing contract management duties until 2011.

Mark then moved to Norland Managed Services in 2011 as a Project Manager, where they successfully delivered heating plant upgrades and office refurbishment projects for Walsall NHS PCT. Mark also helped in developing a Projects team within the Midlands Business unit to support the hard facilities maintenance contracts.

In the same year, Mark joined C A Sothers / Rotary as a Project Manager. Here, they carried out engineering and management duties for the Snow Hill 2 project, which involved a £50M construction and £11M building services contract for a Grade A office space in Birmingham city centre. The project achieved practical completion in May 2013.

Most recently, Mark has been working at Briggs & Forrester Group. Mark initially joined as a Project Manager in 2014 before taking on the role of Contracts Manager in the same year. Currently, they serve as the Midlands Operations Manager, starting in January 2022.

Mark Smith attended Barr Beacon from 1983 to 1988. It is unknown what degree they pursued during this time. From 1988 to 1991, Mark attended East Birmingham College and completed an Electrical Apprenticeship.
