Paula Byron is an accomplished communications professional with extensive experience in various leadership roles across prestigious institutions. Currently serving as the Communications Director at Brigham and Women's Hospital, Paula directs strategic communications for a startup aimed at addressing severe noncommunicable diseases in rural sub-Saharan Africa and South Asia. Previous roles include Senior Editor at Virginia Tech College of Liberal Arts and Human Sciences, where Paula improved the college's magazine and website, and Director of Communications at Virginia Tech Carilion School of Medicine and Research Institute, implementing strategic communications for a medical school startup. Paula's editorial leadership at Harvard Medical School resulted in numerous national awards for Harvard Medicine, while earlier work at Harvard School of Public Health included launching the Harvard AIDS Review and managing media relations. Paula holds a BA in English from Williams College and an AM in Asian Studies from the University of Michigan.
