Grigore Burdea PhD has a long and distinguished career in the field of Virtual Rehabilitation. Grigore began their career in 1988 as a Professor at Rutgers University, where they were also the Director of the Tele-Rehabilitation Institute. In 2008, they founded and became CEO of the International Society of Virtual Rehabilitation. Grigore also founded and became CEO of the International Society on Virtual Rehabilitation in the same year, where they advocated for a new field of science called Virtual Rehabilitation. In 2010, they founded Bright Cloud International Corp, where they served as CEO and President. Grigore was awarded the Most Impactful Rehab Tech Award from ACRM in 2018 for their work at Bright Cloud, which has received multiple competitive Federal grants and is addressing the needs of individuals post-stroke, post-traumatic brain injury, those with various forms of dementia or with chronic upper body pain. In 2019, they returned to Bright Cloud as Founder and Chief Technology Officer.
Grigore Burdea PhD obtained their Bachelor's Degree in Electrical and Automation Systems from the Technical Institute for Civil Engineering from 1975 to 1980. Grigore then went on to earn a Master's Degree in Applied Science from New York University from 1983 to 1985. Finally, they earned a Doctor of Philosophy (Ph.D.) in Applied Science (Robotics) from New York University from 1985 to 1987.
