Gypsy Burks has worked in a variety of roles in the IT and media industries. In 2020, they began working as an IT Support Engineer at Bright.md, where they are responsible for Salesforce, Jira, Google, and Zoom, as well as general IT support and device management. From 2017-2020, they worked as a Database Manager at the Western Rivers Conservancy, where they were the Salesforce system administrator and managed IT purchasing, support, and lifecycle management. From 2011-2017, they were a Project Manager and Digital Media Specialist at the Bureau of Land Management's National Historic Oregon Trail Interpretive Center, where they managed media productions, exhibits, advertisement, and publications. From 2007-2011, they worked as a Development Manager at the San Francisco Museum & Historical Society, where they were responsible for Salesforce implementation and coordination of fundraising activities and donor stewardship. Finally, from 2004-2007, they worked at the California College of the Arts as an Extended Education.

Gypsy Burks holds a Master's Degree in Museum Studies from John F. Kennedy University and a Bachelor's Degree from Humboldt State University.
