Layla P. currently serves as the Vice President of Inclusive Education at Bright Star Schools, a position held since July 2024. Previously, Layla held significant roles such as National District Leader Fellow at the SELF - Special Education Leader Fellowship and Associate Director of Special Education at ICEF Public Schools. Layla also worked at Alliance College-Ready Public Schools as a Special Education and Inclusion Specialist and Director of School Support, among other positions. Earlier career experiences include directing school culture at Washington Leadership Academy, serving as Principal and Director of Student Supports at Summit Preparatory Charter School, and holding various roles at Samuel J. Green Charter School. Layla began in education as a Corps Member with Teach For America and gained journalism experience as a staff writer at The Iowa Center for Public Affairs Journalism. Layla's educational background includes a Master’s degree in Human Development and Psychology from Harvard Graduate School of Education and a Bachelor's degree in Journalism and Mass Communication and American Studies from the University of Iowa.
