Paul Waby has a diverse and extensive work experience in the field of rail systems and signaling. Paul is currently working as the Vice President of Systems at Brightline West Trains. Prior to this, they served as the Rail Systems Director at Texas Central - The Texas Bullet Train. Before that, they worked as the Design & Systems Engineering Manager at Alstom (Formally Signalling Solutions Limited) where they managed a large team and supervised various aspects of signalling projects in the UK. Paul also held the position of Lead Project & ATC Engineer at Transport for London, where they led the acceptance and project engineers for an ATC supply project. Additionally, they worked as a Principle Signalling Consultant at Sinotech Engineering Consultants, Ltd, and served as the Taiwan Country Director at Currie & Brown. Furthermore, Paul Waby has experience with Mitsubishi Heavy Industries and Alstom Transport, where they worked as a Lead Signalling & Project Engineer and Test Track Manager respectively. Early in their career, they worked as a Senior ATC Engineer at Invensys/Westinghouse Rail, where they were involved in projects in China and gained experience in production engineering and system testing.

Paul Waby attended Somerset College of Arts and Technology from 1987 to 1989, where they earned a Diploma of Digital Engineering specializing in Systems Engineering and Communications. Paul then pursued further education at Swindon College from 1989 to 1991, obtaining a degree in Engineering with a focus on Digital Systems and Systems Engineering.
