Drew Gilpin

R&D Scientist at Brighton Science

Drew Gilpin started their work experience in 2006 as a System Administrator at Guardian Savings Bank. During their time there, they fixed bugs in legacy applications and implemented a SharePoint portal, resulting in decreased paper and fax/phone system usage.

In 2007, they joined Brighton Science as an R&D Scientist. Drew invented and built the first prototype of the Surface Analyst, a surface energy measurement tool widely used in various industries. Drew also commercialized the Surface Analyst through Android ROM development for i.MX6 based embedded devices.

Drew Gilpin holds a Doctor of Philosophy (PhD) degree in Materials Science from the University of Cincinnati. Prior to this, Drew obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Chemistry from Xavier University.

Brighton Science

Brighton Science (formerly BTG Labs) is the global leader in surface intelligence— the application of surface science to real life adhesion, manufacturing, product development and supply chain challenges. For more than 20 years we have lived at the interface of materials, where surface quality and integrity can make or break a product—or a company. We bring visibility, data and insight to mission-critical decisions for the most visionary and demanding manufacturers in the world. With two decades of scientific and engineering expertise in bonding and adhesion, and a versatile suite of handheld diagnostic tools, we give manufacturers an unprecedented level of convenience (clear and fast answers, right on site), consistency (the ability to anticipate and assure material performance) and confidence (proven ways to improve quality and processes and deliver better products). We welcome the opportunity to partner with you.
