Theresa J. Whitmarsh is the former Executive Director of the Washington State Investment Board, one of the United States’ leading institutional investors, managing $185 billion of state pension, insurance, and other assets. The WSIB is a leader in private asset investments, with private equity, real estate, and tangible assets comprising nearly half of its retirement portfolio. Theresa joined the WSIB in 2003 with 20 years of experience in business, government, and media.
Theresa currently serves on a number of industry boards and advisory councils. She is Chair of FCLT Global, Co-Chair of the Millstein Center for Corporate Responsibility at Columbia University, a Board Member of IFM Investors, and serves on the Alberta Investment Management Corporation (AIMCo) board.
Theresa is a past Chair of the Council of Institutional Investors and the Pacific Pension & Investment Institute and former Director of the International Centre for Pension Management. In addition, she served a five-year term as an external advisor on the ABP Investment Committee.
Theresa obtained her M.B.A. at the Pacific Lutheran University and her B.A. in English Literature at Seattle Pacific University.
