Karl Kissa

Karl Kissa is an accomplished engineering professional with extensive experience in photonics and optical engineering. Currently serving as Principal Member of Technical Staff at BrightView Technologies since September 2022, Karl focuses on the design of Micro Lens Arrays. Previously, Karl managed the Photonics Lab at Stonehill College, overseeing optical and mechanical material characterization and the high-speed testing of Photonic Integrated Circuits. A long tenure at Lumentum as Senior Optical Engineer saw Karl contribute to telecom transmission product design for 400G and 800G systems and generate multiple patent applications. Earlier experience includes designing lithium niobate modulators for fiberoptic gyroscopes at Charles Stark Draper Laboratory. Karl Kissa holds a PhD in Electrical Engineering from the University of Delaware and a BS in Physics from Duke University.
