Utah Kate Newman has over 10 years of professional experience. Utah Kate began their career in 2008 as a Teaching Assistant for the University of Kentucky Biology Department, where they successfully taught four thirty-student sections of General Biology Lab for non-majors, Principles of Integrative Biology (Lab) I and Principles of Integrative Biology (Lab) II. In 2011, they became a Science Instructor for Brightmont Academy, where they developed and implemented science curriculum for one-on-one high school instruction. From 2014 to 2015, they worked as a Summer of Code Intern for Rails Girls Summer of Code, where they worked with mentors, coaches, and other engineers in Seattle and Germany to troubleshoot code for diaspora*, an open source, distributed social networking site.
