Head of Software at Brill Power

Gareth Potter has a diverse work experience in the technology industry. Gareth is currently working as the Head of Software at Brill Power, a position they assumed in February 2023. Prior to this, Gareth worked at Bell Rock Capital Management LLP from January 2016 to March 2022, where they served as the Chief Technology Officer. In this role, Gareth was responsible for designing and building a platform to support the technology needs of the company, including network design, data ingestion tools, and user interfaces. Gareth also championed the insourcing of IT functions to reduce costs and improve reliability and performance.

Before joining Bell Rock Capital, Gareth worked at G-Research as a Developer from April 2013 to January 2016. Prior to that, they worked at Citi Group as an Assistant Vice President Senior Developer from January 2011 to April 2013, where they led the design and build of a WPF GUI for the Consolidated Risk Desk and contributed to the design and build of a Delta One/Programs Trading application.

Gareth also has experience working at JP Morgan Chase as an Associate Developer from June 2010 to January 2011, where they developed a C# WPF GUI for Delta One marketers. Gareth also contributed enhancements to the Java/Spring server. Prior to that, Gareth worked at Morgan Stanley as an Associate Developer from February 2008 to June 2010, and at Russell-Cooke as an IT Consultant from November 2007 to February 2008.

Gareth Potter pursued their education in a chronological order, starting with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Japanese Studies from Durham University, which they completed between 2002 and 2004. Following this, they attended SOAS University of London from 2004 to 2006, where they obtained another Bachelor of Arts degree, this time in Japanese. Finally, they furthered their academic pursuits at the University of Cambridge from 2006 to 2007, earning a Master of Philosophy degree in Oriental Studies.
