John Hewa

John Hewa, P.E., Dr. Eng. has an extensive work experience in the energy sector. John started their career in 2003 as the Director of Utilities at the City of Manassas. From 2006 to 2011, they served as the General Manager at Talquin Electric Cooperative, where they provided outstanding service to the Florida Big Bend Region. John then joined NRECA in 2011 as the Vice President of Research, Engineering, and Technical Services, where they worked until 2013. From 2013 to 2017, they served as the Chief Executive Officer at Pedernales Electric Cooperative. In 2017, they became the Vice President and Chief Operating Officer at Rappahannock Electric Cooperative, overseeing electric service for over 170,000 connections. John later became the President and CEO of Rappahannock Electric Cooperative. Recently, in 2022, they took on the position of President and CEO at BrilliT.

John Hewa, P.E., Dr. Eng. holds a Doctor of Engineering degree from The George Washington University, obtained from 2018 to 2020. John also received a Master's degree in Engineering Management from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, completed between 2000 and 2003. Furthermore, they hold a Bachelor's degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Tennessee, Knoxville, acquired from 1990 to 1995. In addition to their academic qualifications, they are also a certified Professional Engineer by the Tennessee Department of Commerce and Insurance, which they obtained in 2003.
