Espen Larsen-Hakkebo has a diverse work experience spanning various industries and roles. Espen co-founded Brim Explorer in 2018 and currently holds the position of Co-founder. Prior to this, from 2017 to 2018, they worked at North Sailing Norway as a Sales and Marketing Manager. From 2015 to 2017, Espen worked as a Consultant at Geelmuyden Kiese Brussels. In 2015, they were an Advisor at Forbrukerrådet, where they wrote an internal report on the consumer impact of Big Data. Espen also had experience working with Jeunes Européens Fédéralistes (JEF-Europe) as a Project Manager in 2014, organizing voter mobilization projects across Europe. Espen served as the Secretary General of Europeisk Ungdom, JEF Norway, from 2012 to 2014, with responsibilities including managing a youth organization and budgetary responsibilities. Espen also had short-term roles at Europabevegelsen and Europeisk Ungdom in 2012 and 2011, respectively. Earlier in their career, they worked as a Consultant at NHO, where they developed an educational program about the EU and Norway's relations to the EU for high schools. Espen's work experience also includes a part-time role as a shop assistant at ICA Nær Slemdal, where they gained customer service and supply management skills.

Espen Larsen-Hakkebo holds a Master's Degree in Science, Technology and Society from the University of Oslo (UiO), which they earned from 2014 to 2015. Prior to that, they completed their Bachelor of Arts in European Studies at the same university from 2007 to 2011. Additionally, in 2010, Espen Larsen-Hakkebo participated in an exchange course at Krigsskolen på Linnerud, studying the history of War and Society, focusing on warfare, strategy, and society.
