Evody Tshijik Karumb

Senior Metallurgical Engineer at Brimstone Energy

Evody Tshijik Karumb has been working in the metallurgical field since 2012. In 2012, they were a Graduate Research and Teaching Assistant at the Kroll Institute of Extractive Metallurgy (KIEM) where they conducted a thorough literature survey to harvest thermochemistry data for binary systems of Pb and impurities typically occurring in a lead bullion and determined binary parameters for binary systems using thermodynamic models for calculating the activity coefficient. Evody also worked as an Undergraduate Research Assistant, assisting a PhD graduate student on their work. In 2013, they were a Metallurgical Intern at the Eurasian Natural Resources Corporation PLC, working with the metallurgical team at the COMIDE operation in the Democratic Republic of Congo (DRC) where they used HMS. Evody conducted a laboratory sink/float test on the ore for best use and density of ferrosilicon and a performance test on the HMS separation cyclone. In 2020, they began working at Brimstone as a Senior Metallurgical Engineer, Environment Health & Safety Officer, and Metallurgical Research Engineer. Additionally, they are a KIEM CSM Volunteer at the Colorado School of Mines.

Evody Tshijik Karumb has a diverse educational background. Evody obtained a High School degree from Ustawi Institute in 2008, after studying Biology and Chemistry from 2002 to 2008. Evody then attended Red Rocks Community College from 2009 to 2010, but did not seek a degree. Karumb then enrolled in Colorado School of Mines in 2011 and obtained a Bachelor of Science degree in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in 2013. Evody continued their studies at Colorado School of Mines and obtained a Master's Degree in Extractive Metallurgy in 2016, and a Doctor of Philosophy in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering in 2019. Additionally, Karumb has obtained three certifications in Metallurgical and Materials Engineering from Colorado School of Mines, in 2013, 2016, and 2019.
