Joshua Tharp has a diverse work experience spanning several companies. Joshua currently holds the role of Sr. Principal Software Engineer at Brinqa since November 2022. Prior to this, they worked at AT&T Cybersecurity from June 2019 to December 2022, serving as a Principal Software Engineer.
Tharp had a long tenure at AT&T, starting in 1999. During their time there, they held multiple roles, including Associate Director of Technology | Lead Software Engineer from May 2018 to June 2019, Lead Software Engineer from October 2011 to May 2018, and Senior Software Engineer from June 1999 to October 2011. In these positions, they demonstrated their expertise in designing and implementing software systems, leading small teams, and delivering high-quality software within schedule.
Tharp's responsibilities at AT&T included directing the AT&T Technology Development organization's contributions to the Astra program, a cloud security platform. Joshua also designed and developed software solutions for both internal and external customers, and collaborated on projects directly for the government and those indirectly supporting government programs. Their notable achievements include developing working prototypes of Software Defined Perimeter (SDP), building custom authenticators for OpenAM, and designing large portions of a J2EE application for network health monitoring.
Joshua Tharp holds a Master of Science (MS) degree in Computer Science from California Polytechnic State University-San Luis Obispo. Prior to that, they obtained a Bachelor of Science (BS) degree in Civil Engineering from the same university. In addition to their formal education, Joshua has also pursued several certifications, including "Developing Secure Software," "Programming Foundations: Secure Coding," and "Cybersecurity Awareness: Security Overview" from LinkedIn. Joshua has also completed various training courses on Docker, including "Docker Essential Training" and "Learning Docker" from LinkedIn. Furthermore, Joshua possesses certifications as a "Sun Certified Developer for the Java Platform" and a "Sun Certified Programmer for the Java Platform" from Sun Microsystems.
