Dale Tapping is an experienced football coach currently serving as the VFL coach at Collingwood Football Club since November 2016 and as an assistant football coach at Brisbane Lions, also since November 2016. Tapping holds a Diploma in Business Management from the Australian Institute of Management, completed between 2010 and 2011, and possesses an Advanced Certificate in Horticulture as a qualified horticulturalist from Nth Metro Tafe, achieved from 1983 to 1988. Tapping completed Year 12 at St Josephs Technical College from 1978 to 1982.

The Brisbane Lions are an Australian Rules Football Club which participates in the Australian Football League (AFL) and was formed from the merger of the Brisbane Bears and the Fitzroy Lions in 1996. The club appeared in four consecutive AFL Grand Finals between 2001 and 2004, winning three (2001, 2002 and 2003) to become one of the most successful teams of the modern era. They also boast one of the most successful AFLW teams since the competitions inception, playing in four grand finals, and winning one Premiership in 2021.
