Daniel Cheyette

VP Lands and Resources at Bristol Bay Native Corporation

Daniel Cheyette has extensive work experience in the legal field. Daniel started their career as a Law Clerk at the State of Alaska Superior Court in 1996 and then moved to the Alaska Court System as a Law Clerk in 1996-1997. In 1997-1999, they worked as a Staff Attorney at the Alaska Legal Service Corporation. Daniel then joined the US District Court Anchorage as a Law Clerk in 1999-2001, where they researched and wrote legal memoranda for a judge and made decisions for the 9th Circuit Court of Appeals. In 2004-2006, they worked as an Assistant District Attorney at the State of Alaska, and then became an Assistant Attorney General at the same organization in 2006-2011. From 2007-2011, they also served as a Special Assistant United States Attorney at the U.S. Department of Justice. Currently, they hold the position of VP Lands and Resources at Bristol Bay Native Corporation, starting from 2018.

Daniel Cheyette earned a BA degree in History and Art History from Rice University, which they attended from 1987 to 1991. Daniel then pursued a JD degree in Law at Lewis & Clark Law School from 1993 to 1996. Later, they went on to obtain an MS degree in Natural Resources Management from the University of Alaska Fairbanks, where they studied from 2001 to 2004.
