Richard Fishman is an experienced leader and investor with a diverse background in technology, governance, and social impact. Currently serving as a member of the President's Council of the National Academies of Science, Engineering and Medicine since December 2015, Fishman also holds the position of Director and Investor at RockTech and is part of the Advisory Council for Columbia University's Committee on Global Thought. As a principal investor since 2009, Fishman focuses on early-stage technology companies, particularly in big data, fintech, health care, and social media, along with investments in Broadway plays. Fishman's board affiliations include roles at Encyclopaedia Britannica, Peace First, and iCivics Inc., and Richard has been involved with Ashoka's Senior Leadership Team since May 2010, focusing on technologies that drive social change. Previously, Fishman was Managing Partner at RSS Investors, LP, and served on the board of MRO Software prior to its acquisition by IBM.
