Cai Read

Cai Read PhD is a Senior Scientist specializing in Translational Science Capabilities at BAT since February 2022, previously serving as a Senior Preclinical Scientist where numerous discovery programs were directed in collaboration with academic and industrial partners worldwide. Prior experience includes a role as a Preclinical Research Scientist at Invicro, where technical expertise was provided for preclinical studies, and as a Postdoctoral Associate at The Scripps Research Institute, focusing on the identification of biased ligands at the mu opioid receptor. Cai Read completed a PhD in Cardiovascular Medicine at the University of Cambridge, where research involved the pharmacological characterization of apelin agonists, and has experience teaching as a Supervisor in Pharmacology. Prior academic achievements also include a Master of Research and a BA in Natural Sciences from the University of Cambridge.
