Head Of Access & Environment at British Canoeing

Ben Seal has a diverse work experience in the outdoor and sports development fields. Ben started their career as an Outdoor Pursuits Instructor at Derby City Council from September 2008 to January 2012. Later, they worked as a Paddlesports Development Officer for the East & West Midlands from January 2012 to January 2014, focusing on sports development programs for diverse groups. Ben then served as a Senior Development Officer (North) at British Canoeing from January 2014 to January 2017. Ben'sresponsibilities included coordinating participation programs and supporting clubs and centers. From January 2017 to April 2022, Ben held the role of Places to Paddle Manager at British Canoeing, where they led the Clear Access, Clear Waters Campaign and managed relationships with key stakeholders. In April 2022, they transitioned to their current role as Head of Access & Environment at British Canoeing.

Ben Seal received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Business Studies from The University of Sheffield, where they attended from 2002 to 2005. In addition, they obtained a Level 5 Certificate in Leadership & Management from ILM in July 2020, and a Mountain Leader certification from the Mountain Leader Training Board in October 2010.
