Head Of Olympic And Paralympic Talent Pathways at British Cycling

Joe Malik has a diverse work experience in the sports industry. Joe started their career as a Fitness Instructor at Fitness First UK in 2005. Joe then worked as a Sports Development Officer, focusing on Disability Sport, at Tameside Council from 2008 to 2010. During their time at Tameside Council, Joe demonstrated their leadership skills as a Cycling Development Manager. Joe successfully implemented new cycling programs, secured funding for various initiatives, and managed a team of staff. Joe further advanced their career by joining British Cycling, where they held multiple roles. As a Go-Ride Development Coach from 2012 to 2016, they supported sports clubs, delivered workshops, and coached young people. Joe then became a Foundation Coach for the Great Britain Cycling Team, responsible for identifying and developing road and track riders. Since 2017, Joe has served as the Head of Olympic and Paralympic Talent Pathways, leading a team of talent development coaches and ensuring the identification and support of riders for upcoming Olympic and Paralympic Games. Joe also contributed their expertise as an Advisory Member at Access Sport from 2021 to 2022. In 2015, Joe briefly worked as an IDEALS Professional at UK Sport. Through their various roles, Joe has accumulated extensive knowledge and experience in talent development, coaching, program management, and strategic implementation in the sports industry.

Joe Malik attended West Park Secondary School from 1997 to 2002. Joe then pursued a BA (hons) degree in Sport Development and Physical Education from Liverpool John Moores University from 2005 to 2008.
