British Geological Survey
Ford Jonathan serves as the Director of National Geoscience at the British Geological Survey since October 2001, where responsibilities include overseeing fundamental scientific research and delivering quality-assured UK geological knowledge and data on- and offshore. Previously, Ford held the positions of Chief Geologist for England and Head of Geology, leading the onshore geological mapping and modelling programs. Prior experience includes roles as an Exploration Geologist at Billiton Mining and Exploration and Rio Tinto, and a Mine Surveyor at H. J. Banks Opencast Coal Ltd. Ford holds a degree in Applied Geology from the University of Leicester and a Master's degree in Computing Science from Newcastle University.
