Robert Valdez II

Robert Valdez II, Ph.D., serves as a Rock Mechanics & Physics Specialist at the British Geological Survey since April 2023, contributing to strategies for a secure energy transition in the UK. Prior to this role, Robert held positions as a Geomechanics Specialist & Laboratory Manager at Stratum Reservoir and as a Geomechanics Specialist/Geologist at ExxonMobil, focusing on subsurface characterization and geomechanics research. Robert's academic background includes a Ph.D. from Penn State University, where dissertation research centered on the mechanical behavior of major plate boundary fault systems. Experience also includes roles as an on-site scientist for the International Continental Scientific Drilling Program and visiting researcher at the National Institute of Advanced Industrial Science and Technology in Japan. Teaching experience includes serving as a Teaching Assistant in structural geology at the University of California, Riverside.
