James Spencer

James Spencer is the current finance officer at the British Cardiovascular Society. James is responsible for overseeing the credit control function, assisting with management accounts and other finance reports, processing monthly salaries, preparing monthly budget/spend reporting and analysis, assisting in audit preparation, reconciling the bank accounts, credit cards, liquidity manager and petty cash, monitoring VAT transactions and reconciliation, assisting in preparation of VAT returns, maintaining accruals, prepayments and various journals, providing quarterly deep dive analysis on various areas of the business, processing of purchase invoices and payment runs, monitoring and processing expenses, posting all nominal transactions, keeping finance files up to date, processing international payments, ensuring timely invoicing of all income due and ensuring income is allocated correctly and entered into the accounting system. James is experienced with SAGE 50 and provides secretarial support to the finance committee including minute taking, organising meetings, drafting of agendas and communication with committee members.

Prior to their current role, James was the director of Spencer Solutions Ltd, a company they set up in order to easily secure financial contracts. James was responsible for filing all accounts monthly and performing annual reviews which included but were not limited to corporation tax, yearly wages and their annual confirmation statement. James was also in regular contact with HMRC to ensure that they were following all financial guidelines and processes accurately and within the correct time constraints.

James Spencer is a part qualified CIMA accountant who has also studied at the Uni of the West of England, where they received exemptions from professional bodies including CIMA, ACCA and AAT.
