Michael Wilton

Michael Wilton is an accomplished tax professional with extensive experience within HM Revenue & Customs, currently serving as Grade 6 (Assistant Director) for VAT Legal Interpretation and Boundary Pushing since January 2019. In this role, Michael leads a team of over 50 VAT specialists to challenge and refine tax interpretations across various customer groups. Previous positions include Corporation Tax Policy Manager and Overseas and Commodities VAT Policy Manager, alongside a pivotal role at HM Treasury as a VAT Policy Adviser. Michael's foundation in taxation is supported by an impressive educational background, earning a Bachelor of Arts in Professional Studies in Taxation from The Manchester Metropolitan University and multiple advanced degrees in finance and physical sciences.
